  • In general, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman has three intakes in a year, i.e. January, May/June and September/October Intakes.

  • Yes, the application for the Foundation programmes can be based on more than one SPM/O Level examination results.

  • Yes, you will be given on a conditional offer if your results meet the Minimum Entry Requirement of the programme applied. Under this conditional admission, you will be required to attend the English Enhancement Programme (EEP) conducted by UTAR’s Centre for Extension Education (CEE) and pass the required English level (EEP Level 7) within the first two trimesters of the Foundation programme.

    The conditional offer does not apply to the programmes which have specific English Language Requirements set by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)/Professional Bodies.

  • Applicants without a formal academic qualification may apply for admission to UTAR based on Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning for Access [APEL(A)] certificate. Interested applicants (Malaysian citizens/expatriates aged 21 and above) may apply for APEL assessment for entry to bachelor's degree through the APEL.A Portal where successful applicants will be awarded the APEL(A) certificate by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for admission to the institutions of higher learning in Malaysia.

  • The application for credit transfer is to be made together with the application for admission to the University. Certified true copy of the following documents must be submitted together with the Application Form:

    a. Certificate of Awards.

    b. Official Academic Transcripts.

    c. Programme Structure and Syllabi.

    d. Official Letter from the Institution of Higher Learning on the status of the programme accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

    e. All relevant information and materials related to your previous studies from SPM/SPMV onwards.

    Please note that applications submitted without the above documents will be processed for normal admission without any consideration for credit transfer.

    Such applications shall be considered on a case-to-case basis. Successful applicant may be admitted with credit transfer, where applicable.

  • Yes, you are encouraged to apply based on your relevant knowledge and skills acquired through non-formal work-related learning experience and informal training courses, so long as you are a registered student of UTAR Master (by Coursework/Mixed Mode) or Bachelor programme.

  • Congratulations and thank you for choosing UTAR. You are required to pay the programme fee as stated in the student bill on or before the payment due date.

  • If you decided not to take up the offer, there is no need to pay the programme fee.

  • You are to appeal for late registration, please email to admission@utar.edu.my The approval is subject to availability of vacancies and provided intake is still open.


  • If you pay your Student Bill by using JomPay or Public Bank’s Internet Banking Service, you can obtain your student ID number from the Admission Application Status Enquiry system which will be generated in 3 working days upon receipt of payment.

  • You may log in to UTAR portal after you get the UTAR student ID number.

    What should I do if I wish to transfer to another Bachelor Honours Degree programme at UTAR?

    You are required to fill out the Programme Transfer Application form and submit to the following Division/Centre/Faculty before the end of Week 2 of your study trimester:

    a. Before the commencement starts: Division of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE) via email or walk in.

    b. After the commencement starts: Faculty General Office (FGO) via email or walk in.

    Applications are considered on a case-to-case basis.

    Successful applicants who wish to accept the programme transfer are required to pay the programme transfer fee (compulsory) and difference in tuition fees (where applicable).

    I am currently, for example, in Year 2 Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) and I would like to transfer to Bachelor of Communication (Honours) Journalism. Can I do that?

    You are required to apply for a programme transfer by submitting the Programme Transfer Application form, certified true copy of your entry qualification and all the Notification of Results of all your examination sittings at UTAR to the Faculty General Office (FGO).

    Existing Students (Foundation Final Trimester Students): Programme Transfer (Final Trimester Foundation Students) Application Form

    I am currently pursuing, for example, Foundation in Arts leading to Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours). I would like to transfer to Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Accounting. Can I do that?

    You may apply for programme transfer in the final trimester of your Foundation Programme.

    All applications must be accompanied with photocopies of Notification of Results slip and submit to the Division of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE).

    Applications are considered on a case-to-case basis.

    Successful applicants who wish to accept the programme transfer are required to pay the programme transfer fee (compulsory) and difference in tuition fees (where applicable).

    The deadline for submission of application for programme transfer is by end of week 4 of day 5 of every trimester.

  • You may commence your study in the new programme upon official notification from the University to the effect that your application for programme transfer is successful.

  • You are required to fill out the Change Stream of Study (Same Degree Programme) (Foundation - New Student) form and submit to the following Division/Centre/Faculty:

    a. Before the commencement starts: Division of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE) via email or walk in.

    b. After the commencement starts: Faculty General Office (FGO) via email or walk in.

    The closing date for submission of such applications is normally at the end of the 2nd week post commencement of the trimester for new students. Applications are considered on a case-to-case basis.

  • For students who withdraw after the commencement date of programme, there is STRICTLY no refund of all fees paid EXCEPT Caution Money for Malaysian students or the Security Bond Deposit for international students.

  • Internal scholarship recipients may apply for a PTPTN loan. External scholarship recipients, on the other hand, must check with the sponsor to see if PTPTN is permitted.

  • A student may only have ONE scholarship at any given time.
    Students may, however, appeal to the University to hold multiple scholarships if the scholarship packages differ (e.g. scholarship 1 covers tuition fee and scholarship 2 provides living allowance). The decision of the University Committee is final.

  • It will be entirely dependent on the consideration and approval of the sponsor. Students should refer to the scholarship agreement or consult the sponsor for more information.
